Hula Skirt

In class we made skirts for our Hula dance. The skirts consisted of plastic bags, and ribbon. Although they were pretty crinkly I liked them because it was a clash of recycling and creativity. We made them by cutting strips of plastic bags and attaching them to a ribbon. Then you would tie it around your waist.

In dance we just started our new unit. We are doing a new dance to the song "Wade In The Water" I really like this dance because we can very drastically move our spine, which is really fun. Also we get to move more free flowing which is more fun, and less solemn like our previous dance that we performed in the winter arts festival.

extension and squeeze

Today in class we worked on our partner poses. it was fun because, not only did we have to make 4 poses that extended, and came close to the core, but we had to do it in partners. which meant combining 2 poses, that are opposites, to make one pose.

Dance class

Recently in dance we started a new dance. The music was slow. So was our dance. I realized dance is affected by music. The softer the music the less sharp the dance is (most often). In the other dance the music was faster, and so was the dance.

Love On Top

I was watching Love On Top, by Beyoncé. I noticed how when their out fit changed so did their style, of dance. When they were wearing tuxedos there dance was more classical. When their outfits were street clothes their dance was more modern.
